My Lucky Number Three
Since the fall of 2016, I planned to complete a triathlon in 2017. I can't recall if this goal actually wiggled its way on this platform, but it has been kept quite a secret for so many reasons. With a small group of supporters behind me, I trained for a TBD event. A few months ago, the opportunity presented and without much thought I registered. Game on.
Over the past few months, I've pushed myself, more so mentally, than ever before. A few sayings come to mind:
I spent hours of physical sacrifice and development, while working mentally on finding peace and balance, which will be the platform of my stage at tomorrow's triathlon. I rekindled my hidden childhood passion for the water, I found joy (most of the time) in feeling the wind through my hair as I lightly pumped my bike breaks (okay...maybe more than lightly), and I found the fire again in my feet, ripping off slightly faster miles. All this, showing my girls that hard work, in everything we do, can lead to success.
So here I am, again, sitting at this kitchen table with an open journal and an empty lunch plate. This time reserved to organize my thoughts and unwind. My goals, with the help of my coach, follow:
- Feel Confident
- Gain Experience
- Stay Present
- Problem Solve
- Stay Mentally Strong
- Celebrate!
Tomorrow, I'll trust the process and let the results speak for themselves.
Today, try not to freak the fuck out.
